                                     THINK DOG - PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES

Hello,
Thank you for registering for the THINK DOG! Event To be held on 9th-10th November 2013
To help you prepare for the event, we have made a list of requirements and rules below.

The event will include plenty of training, behaviour advice and a lot of fun. Dogs and owners will be placed in groups for the duration of the event. The groups will be planned carefully keeping in mind each dog’s temperament, size and training abilities. We do expect the owners to get along with each other. After all, dog training is about having fun and sharing thoughts with others.
We have attached a brief questionnaire which will help us know your dog better. Please do fill it out and email it back to us by Friday 8th evening latest.

VENUE

The event will be held at Aaskar Pet Resorts, Varthur, near Whitefield. The route map details have been posted on the Think Dog Page.

TIMINGS

SATURDAY  9th November

 4pm-7:00 pm
The talk will begin at 4 pm sharp. Please come half an hour early to officially register. Since it is a behaviour talk, please leave your dogs at home. Dogs thoroughly dislike theory sessions.  If you would like to take notes, please bring along a notebook and a pen.

SUNDAY 10th November

9:30 am – 12:30 pm
The practical handling session.
Please do ensure that you come on time so that you can be put into a team that suits your dog and you.

DOGS

All dog lovers are welcome – with and without their dogs. You can either bring your own dog or a friend’s dog.  Dogs must be at least six months old and physically fit and be up-to-date on vaccinations. Please carry a copy of your vaccination certificate along.
No female dogs in heat will be allowed on the course. This is to ensure that the male dogs are not distracted. There will be no bite work training or guard dog training taught on this course. Other than the topics listed in the brochure, no other individual training will be done with the dogs in this course.
This course is designed to show you how to train a dog to a standard that you would not have thought possible but it is not a course that addresses either dog to dog aggression or dog to people aggression so your chosen dog MUST be fine around other dogs and people.
Any dog that is aggressive towards other dogs or humans will not be allowed to participate. If a dog is found aggressive whilst on the course, the organisers have the right to ask it to leave (no refund will be given).
Please note only one dog per person will be allowed at the event.

WHAT TO BRING ALONG

There will be light snacks and  drinks provided for the human participants. Please do carry plenty of drinking water and any snacks you may want.
We advise you to carry a change of clothes and a towel. All clothing must be comfortable and suitable for dog training.
The event will include plenty of activity, which can result in minor accidents such as falls, cuts, bruises and scrapes. We will have a first aid kit at hand, but please carry along anything specific you may need.

FOR YOUR DOG

MEALS - Please do bring along a water bowl and dog treats. The dog treats preferably must be soft – like cheese, paneer, boiled eggs, etc. Hard dog treats such as dog biscuits, chewies or biscuits tend to get stuck in a dog’s throat causing it pain and choking.
Please bring your dog along on a secure collar and leash. At no time will any dog be allowed off leash.
Your dog may need to rest between sessions so do carry along a mat for your dog to rest on.There will be plenty of swimming on the course so please get a towel for your dog.
Please ensure that your dog is on leash all the time, no matter how well behaved it is, so as to ensure that all dogs are safe and that we reduce the probability of a dog fight.

ACTIVITIES

The activities through the course will test your dog knowledge in a fun way, so do come prepared!
The event promises to be a lot of fun, but it can be tiring too. No one will be forced to participate in the activities and we encourage everyone to work at their own pace.
Canines Can Care will do all that is possible to ensure a safe and happy event. The organisation will not be responsible for any damage caused to person, dog or property. Any damages caused to the property or belongings of the property by either the dog or the participants will have to be borne by the participant.
Please ensure your belongings are kept safely. Neither Canines Can Care nor Askaar Pet Resorts shall be held responsible or liable for any lost, stolen or damaged personal property.
Please note we not allow domestic staff to attend the event. The participation is strictly for pet parents accompanied by their own dogs.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

All guests of yours are welcome – with and without a dog – even without registration. Please note the same charges are applicable to guests. Payment can be made on the spot.
All payments have to be made before the event or at the registration desk. We do not accept credit cards or payment after the event.
